Frequently Asked Questions

Below are a list of questions that we frequently get asked at ARM Hire. If you have further questions that are not covered below, then please don't hesitate to get in touch with us and we'll be glad to help.

1. Do you provide insurance?

ARM Hire does not provide insurance.  What we suggest is adding to your existing insurance policy while you hire the truck.  Most trailers are covered by the truck insurance as long as they are hitched but please check this with your insurance provider as we will require proof of insurance before rental.

2. Do I need an operators license?

Trailers are covered by your vehicle O license however for trucks the law requires that you have a spare space on your Operators license called the Margin.  When the truck is to be used for a period of less than 30 days you must notify the transport commissioner and pay the appropriate fee.  Please note as O licensing laws and hire vehicles are a bit of a grey area please confirm with the transport commissioner if you have any doubts that you are not covered.

3. What do I need to bring before renting a vehicle?

You will need to bring a copy of your O license, Insurance cover note and driving license.

4. What happens if the vehicle gets damaged?

Any damage to the vehicle is the responsibility of the hirer. Obviously any damamge gets repaired and the hirer or the insurer will get the bill as required.
